HDFC Bank Announces Maintenance Schedule, Impacting Key Services

HDFC Bank has revealed plans for scheduled maintenance that will result in the temporary unavailability of various important banking services. According to an official statement on the HDFC Bank website, the bank will be upgrading its platforms on two different occasions in June 2024.

The first maintenance window is scheduled for June 9th, 2024, from 3:30 AM to 6:30 AM IST, lasting for three hours. The second maintenance session will take place on June 16th, 2024, from 3:30 AM to 7:30 AM IST, lasting for four hours. During these periods, several services will be inaccessible to customers.

The affected services during these maintenance windows include account-related services, deposits, fund transfers (IMPS, NEFT, RTGS), account statement downloads, external/merchant payment services, instant account opening, and UPI payments. These disruptions are necessary for the bank to improve its service quality and security measures.

Besides the planned maintenance activities, HDFC Bank has also informed customers about a significant change in its SMS alert system for UPI transactions. Starting June 25, 2024, SMS alerts for UPI transactions under Rs 100 will be discontinued. Customers will still receive notifications for all UPI transactions through the HDFC Bank app. However, SMS alerts will only be sent for UPI payments of Rs 100 or more and for receiving Rs 500 or more via UPI.

This change has been communicated to customers via email and SMS. HDFC Bank mentioned that the modification aims to reduce the frequency of SMS alerts and improve the user experience by relying more on app notifications.

This latest announcement comes after a recent service shutdown on May 25, where HDFC Bank paused most of its services, including net banking, mobile banking, and UPI, for maintenance purposes.
